People tend to neglect important things: for example, hobbies. Having a hobby can make or break your sanity, especially in college. When the word “hobby” comes to mind, most people immediately switch to things like painting, crafts, gardening, and so on. to the music. There is no such thing as a bad or fair hobby.

You might be wondering, “What is it that is so important in the world to have a hobby?” Well, let’s paint a picture: it’s a Thursday night, you’re tired of writing essays and solving equations and all you wanna do is cry. You decide to take a break, but what do you do on your break? This is where the hobby comes in. This is where you take the time to relax and do something that brings you a sense of peace. Fitting even the smallest amount of time just for you into your day can make all the difference not only to your mood, but to your driving as well.

After taking a break, reading a book, or playing video games, you’ll feel more relaxed and likely have a clearer mind. This is convenient because now you are able to approach your homework with a more positive attitude than before, when you were tense and on the verge of tears. You will start to work harder to complete tasks because you look forward to the downtime that will follow.

One of the many obstacles people claim to encounter is that they “just don’t have the time”, but it couldn’t be more wrong. The only reason you don’t have the time is because you don’t take the time. In order to incorporate a hobby into your daily routine, you need to make it a priority, as taking time for yourself is crucial for your well-being and mental health. This is undoubtedly the highest priority.

It’s not uncommon for people to ignore the need for downtime and a little self-esteem, but it’s something that is beneficial more often than not. Once you start adding these relaxing little time slots for yourself into your days, you will start to notice how happier you are and how freer you feel. This feeling of suffocation will not be as strong anymore, if at all.
