NEW YORK – Melinda French Gates, already one of the world’s foremost philanthropists, will now assume the role of editor.
Gates has formed a documentary imprint with Flatiron Books, a division of Macmillan. The imprint, announced Tuesday by Macmillan, is called Moment of Lift Books and will launch with three publications on women and girls, starting in 2023.
“While we have made huge strides towards gender equality over the past decades, the COVID-19 pandemic continues to disproportionately affect the lives and livelihoods of women,” said Gates, co-chair of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and founder of Pivotal Ventures, in a statement.
“As the world strives to advance a fair recovery, Moment of Lift Books will publish visionaries who help ensure that women’s voices and perspectives are not left behind. I hope their stories inspire readers to join the global fight for equality.
