Beloved Arts Journalist Passes Away – Twin Cities Arts Reader

Pamela Espeland, a beloved arts journalist and figure in Twin Cities journalism, passed away on Sunday, September 26. His weekly Artscape column for MinnPost was a regular centerpiece of artistic coverage.

A multitalented writer and editor, Pamela graduated from Carleton College in Northfield, MN. As a writer, she worked with RLJ Entertainment, based in Stillwater, Minnesota, and Universal Screen Arts, based in Minneapolis, Minnesota. During a long association with Free Spirit Publishing, she has alternately written, co-authored or edited over 200 books, including fiction and non-fiction titles. She started writing for MinnPost in 2007, expanding her portfolio over time to include the Star Tribune, NPR, Jazz.com, mnartists.org, and more. As a member of the Jazz Journalists Association, she has regularly covered the Monterey Jazz Festival.

Pamela is survived by her husband John Whiting, several children and grandchildren, and their dog Boris.
