5 shows like Hit and Run that you must see

Netflix’s “Hit & Run” is an Israeli show centered on Segev Azulai, a tour guide with a troubled past whose life is plunged into limbo when his wife is killed in a brutal accident. The show follows his serpentine investigation into his wife’s murderers and finds him reunited with his explosive past and the equally secretive double life of his late wife. Caught between the CIA and the Israeli Mossad, Segev now finds himself hunted down as he continues to dig deeper into the mysteries of his wife that extend to the White House. If you’ve enjoyed the world of hand-to-hand action and high-stakes espionage that Segev finds himself in, here are some equally gritty secret action shows that will get your heart racing. You can watch most of these “Hit & Run” like shows on Netflix, Hulu, or Amazon Prime.

5. Burn notice (2007-2013)

“Burn Notice” follows a disgraced secret agent who finds himself cut off from his agency and under active surveillance. Realizing that he cannot run away and in search of the men in the shadows who fired him, he begins moonlighting as a private investigator. Seedy undersides and dark agencies surround our hero, much like in “Hit & Run”, with the added bonus of having 7 seasons of this frenzy-worthy show available.

4. Berlin Station (2016-2019)

“Berlin Station” finds Daniel Miller assigned to the CIA station in Germany, where he must quickly learn the ropes and dive into one secret mission after another. With Global Missions typically lasting the duration of a season, there’s a lot of detailed storylines on offer. The extra layer of the central character being in uncharted territory, far from his homeland, also echoes Segev’s adventures in New York City.

3.24 (2001-2010, 2014)

One of the most well-known spy shows, ’24’ follows a 24-hour-per-season narrative, literally following a day in the life of Agent Jack Bauer. Of course, these aren’t regular days, and the series’ taught storytelling and detailed plot has helped it win numerous awards over the years. A true one-man army facing insurmountable difficulties with minute-by-minute action is what makes “Hit & Run” such an attractive watch, and “24” has it in spades. With 8 seasons, one special movie, and one special season, this show is the fast-paced spy gift that keeps on giving. Start at your own risk!

2. Fauda (2015-)

Prior to ‘Hit & Run’, Lior Raz and Avi Issacharoff created the hugely popular ‘Fauda’, which focused on the very active Israeli counterterrorism forces. The series is loaded with brutal combat sequences and challenging terrain situations in Israel, with a touching family angle making the central character (tried out by Lior Raz) not just a fighting machine. If you can’t get enough of Lior Raz and “Hit & Run” then “Fauda” should be your refuge.

1. The Spy (2019)

Based on the life of one of Mossad’s best spies, Eli Cohen, “The Spy” is a truly gripping spy miniseries for those seeking more cerebral, less action-packed viewing options. That’s not to say the show is light on danger, and the story of the Central Spy, as described, is remarkable and fraught with danger as he manages to settle down as an under -Syrian minister under a false identity. Sacha Baron Cohen tries out the central character, and although he is called out for possible historical inaccuracies, the show is a high-stakes international spy treasure. Much like “Hit & Run”, the conspiracy goes to the top, and the central figure is in the thick of it, holding in his hands the fate of the two countries’ relations.
